Kalakriti Youth Association was formed in 1997 by some students
of Sheth N.K.T.T. College with a motive of uplifting the talent
and personality development of the students. Kalakriti Youth
association is one of the leading pioneers engaged in the magnanimous
task of bringing out the hidden talent in students and enhancing
their future development
The history of the Kalakriti saw the establishment of the 1st
ever-intercollegiate competition named “Rang Tarang” in the
Thane district. The foundation of “Rang Tarang ” was laid on
a low scale with only 4 basic competitions – Singing, Dancing,
Acting and Debates. However, it aroused great curiosity and
a whole round of applause with a salutation to the 28 colleges
of Mumbai that participated in the competition held by the
Kalakriti in association with N.K.T.T. College of Commerce
Thane.
The second mega-venture of “Rang Tarang 98” was well ecognized
as the Talent festival with an increase in the competitions
from 4 to 13 which proved a feather in the cap for Kalakriti
Group in all their accomplishing ventures. In all 36 colleges
participated in this festival and the show brought a tremendous
success for the group with rotating crowd of 1000 to 3000 students.
The third to ninth undertaking of the association_ “Rang Tarang
1999 to 2006” saw the increase in its strength with an elaborative
increase in the number of participants. This has provided Kalakriti
youth association with a wider scope, establishing them not
only in Thane but also throughout Mumbai & Raigad Dist.
The strength of the participating college in this program increased
from 36 to 45 colleges and the competitions were also increased
from 13 to 17.
In Tenth & Eleventh year of this competition not only colleges
from Mumbai participated but also colleges from NASIK and Raigad
Dist had participated. Making the total participation of 83
colleges and the number of participants to 2400 students. The
number of rotating crowd increased from 4000 to 5500.
Our success would not have been such a great one
with out the help and encouragement of our sponsors who
not only helped us financially but also gave us the moral
support by taking active part in our show by putting up
stalls and deputing there personal during our show.
The working of Kalakriti Youth Association is managed by more
than 50 members consisting of professional from all the fields
engaged in good profession, business etc. The group is also
engaged in Social activities like Blood Donation Camp, AIDs
rally etc.
The programs were covered by all the leading newspaper like
Times, Loksatha, Samna, Maharastra Times etc and channels like
Thane Varta, In Mumbai, Thane Darpan, Thane Samachar. All these
leading newspaper have rated Rangtarang, as the No.1 intercollegiate
competition in Thane City.
